New Esri Provisioning Files for 2021-2022

May 26, 2021 - New provisioning files to license your Esri GIS software through May 8, 2022 may now be downloaded from our secure software server (https://gis.ksu.edu/software/downloads/).  From this site, select your software product and find the corresponding Provisioning Files 2022 folder.  For ArcGIS Desktop users, the single-use and concurrent provisioning files service versions 10.1 through 10.8.  We recommend ArcGIS Pro users use a named user license available by linking your personal Esri account to K-State's ArcGIS Online for Organizations.

University Consortium for GIScience (UCGIS)

Welcome to the online portal for the GIS and GIScience Community of Practice at Kansas State University which describes geographic information systems (GIS) and geographic information science (GIScience) research, education, people, and facilities at Kansas State University.  This site also serves as K-State's online portfolio for active membership in the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS), a non-profit association of over 70 universities with multidisciplinary graduate education and advanced research programs in GIScience and dedicated to advancing our understanding of geographic processes and spatial relationships through improved theory, methods, data, and technology.  K-State has been a member institution since 2005.

K-State's delegates to the UCGIS are Dr. Katherine Nelson (Department of Geography & Geospatial Sciences) and Dr. Shawn Hutchinson (Department of Geography & Geospatial Sciences).

Shape the Geospatial Revolution!

Areas of research expertise at K-State include satellite remote sensing, cartography and geographic visualization, ecosystem informatics, spatiotemporal modeling and geocomputation, rural resource sustainability, agriculture, and water resources.  Emerging areas of expertise include public health GIS, spatial epidemiology, and UAV development.

In education, K-State offers a broad and growing GIScience curriculum that features a number of courses in basic GIS/GIScience, GIS applications, computer science, and statistical/spatial analysis.  Students also have the opportunity to pursue an Undergraduate Certificate in GIS or Graduate Certificate in GIScience in conjunction with their major field of study.

Thanks to support by KSU Libraries, K-State maintains a university education site license with ESRI which permits access to a rich suite of desktop, server, and online GIS products to all university faculty, staff, and students.  This site license also makes available several other important resources to the K-State community.

The K-State GIScience community is active in inviting speakers to campus through seminar series sponsored by the Provost and affiliated academic departments.  Past speakers have included National Academy of Sciences members and international leaders in GIScience research such as Michael Goodchild, Sarah Bednarz, Keith Clarke, Jack Dangermond, Ruth DeFries, Phil Gersmehl, David Maidment, and Dawn Wright.
